"It’s a picture of Olena Stanislavivna Kompan, Doctor of Historical Sciences and dissident. She studied socio-economic history and worked at the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine together with Olena Luhova. She was her friend and mentor. Olena Kompan had an active civil position. She took part in the Sixtiers movement. In 1973 she was fired from the Institute of History "for propaganda of bourgeois-nationalist ideas and friendly relations with repressed dissidents" and banned from publishing in the press".
